The Lexington Pain Center opened in January 2005 and is directed by Tarsha Garvin, M.D. and Vinod Mungalpara, M.D. These physicians are pain specialists and treat acute and chronic pain including postoperative pain, chronic back pain, arthritis, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic headaches and fibromyalgia. Other types of pain treated by pain specialists include cancer pain, chronic pelvic pain, abdominal pain and much, much more.

Our Mission
The mission of the Lexington Pain Center is to treat patients with chronic pain due to injury, degenerative conditions, or other physical ailments in order to allow patients to live a life that is not governed or dictated by pain.

During your initial consultation the doctor will examine you and talk about the chronic pain you are experiencing.  The doctor will ask you about your past and current medical history and may order certain diagnostic tests in order to determine the cause of your pain. These tests may include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT Scan), X-Rays, Bone Scan or others. All of these tests can be performed at Lexington Memorial’s Imaging Center.

Once the doctor has determined the source of your pain, he or she will develop a personalized pain management plan which may include a variety of therapies such as physical or occupational therapy treatments. The Lexington Pain Center also emphasizes patient education as an important part of successfully managing pain and will provide you with information to help you better understand and manage your pain.
